“Mechanized Tunelleing Method for Transit Expansion Projects in Toronto”

The talk will provide a brief overview of mechanized tunnelling with emphasize on tunnelling in soil. Then the concept of earth pressure balance tunnelling will be explored with an emphasize on tunnelling for the transit projects in Toronto.

Program:

  • Reception and networking: 6- 7 pm
  • Talk by Dr. Bidhendi: 7-8 pm
  • Networking, free talks: 8-9 pm
  • Talk will be conducted in Farsi. Free parking and refreshments are provided for attendees.

Dr. Bidhendi received his Ph.D. degree in Computational Geo-Mechanics from the University of Toronto and, Master’s degree in Structural Engineering from the University of Tehran. After receiving his Ph.D., he became a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Toronto, Lassonde Institute. Later he joined Hatch a Canadian company with international reach in Infrastructure, Mining/Metals, and Energy sectors.

Dr. Bidhendi is a member of tunnelling, soil and rock mechanics associations. His expertise is in computation modelling of underground structures, geo-mechanics, tunnelling, geotechnical and structural fields.
